Biography
DANIEL REMER

Born in London and currently based in Israel, Daniel Remer’s creative journey originally began with photography and evolved into a successful career in filmmaking. A graduate with honors from the London Film School, Remer worked on acclaimed film and television productions in the UK and USA, developing a strong visual sensibility rooted in narrative and composition.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, Remer returned to photography - the medium that first ignited his artistic passion. Influenced by early Metaphysical and Surrealist painters, he has since cultivated a distinct visual language that explores existential themes through meticulously constructed still-life compositions.

Remer’s photography is grounded in the technique of light painting - a method that involves the gradual and precise illumination of each object within the scene. This labor-intensive process brings out rich color gradients and finely detailed textures, contributing to the dreamlike, symbolic quality of his images. Every element, from a folded fabric to a twisted rope, is carefully sourced and placed with exacting intention, imbuing each photograph with layered meaning and psychological depth.

His recent work has garnered growing recognition and awards, establishing him as a rising voice in contemporary conceptual photography.

Artist Statement

"My work centers on existential questions, expressed through symbolic still-life compositions. I use everyday objects to reflect on the human condition - giving them metaphysical weight and anthropomorphic presence.

Each image begins with a fully formed vision, and from there, I source, arrange, and refine the composition over days or weeks, adjusting each element with absolute precision. Through this deliberate process, I seek to construct visual narratives that invite introspection and evoke emotional and philosophical resonance.

Still life, as a genre, offers me complete creative control and the freedom to realize my vision without compromise. I’m drawn to this independence - it allows me to fully engage with the interplay of form, light, and meaning.

Using light painting as my primary photographic technique, I build each image layer by layer. The result is a distinctive aesthetic defined by deep color, rich texture, and atmosphere. For me, this fusion of technical rigor and symbolic intent is where art begins to reflect the inner world."
